Air Shielding Mission

A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor aircraft approaches an Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft assigned over Poland, Aug. 10, 2022. The raptor is assigned to the the 90th Fighter Squadron, which was forward deployed to the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Lask, Poland, to support the NATO Air Shielding mission. The mission provides a near-seamless shield from the Baltic to Black seas, ensuring NATO allies are better able to safeguard and protect alliance territory, populations and forces from air and missile threat.
