Press Conference

A Defense Department official testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee that DOD aims to counterbalance Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Earlier this month, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Philippine Secretary of Defense Carlito Galvez Jr. announced the addition of four Philippine bases to the enhanced defense cooperation agreement between the U.S. and the Philippines in Manila, Philippines, Feb. 2, 2023.
