WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio (AFLCMC) – The Foreign Liaison Officers (FLOs) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s (AFLCMC) Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate (AFSAC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) organized a donation drive for the Dayton Foodbank as an expression of giving back to the Dayton Community that welcomes them and their families from their various countries. The results of the drive were outstanding!
“Together, the FLOs’ donation of $3,700.00 and 140 pounds of food items will allow The Foodbank to distribute over 18,500 meals to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity this winter. We are grateful for the AFSAC FLO Community’s commitment to our local community!” exclaimed Lauren Tappel, Development and Marketing Manager at the Dayton Foodbank.
Warrant Officer (WO)/Adj Darlene Skinner from the Canadian office was the motivating force behind this whole initiative, and the entire FLO community at-large supported this initiative in a fabulous way. Throughout 2021, WO Skinner and the FLOs organized volunteering and an international basket fundraiser for the Dayton Foodbank.
“The FLOs believe the people of Dayton continue to welcome us into their community, and it’s only right that we give something back in appreciation,” explained WO/Adj Skinner. “A handful of FLOs, accompanied by the FLO Coordinator Tim Robinson, visited the Dayton Foodbank to present both food and money donations to the Dayton Foodbank Team in December 2021.”
Tappel added, “We are grateful for WO/Adj Skinner’s commitment to The Foodbank’s mission both through the donation of her time at our mobile distributions throughout the 2021 year, and for serving as a convener for the AFSAC FLO Community’s food and fund drive to benefit The Foodbank this holiday season.”
The Dayton Foodbank is a private, nonprofit organization supported by generous individuals, corporations and foundations. It is a member of Feeding America and a partner agency of United Way. It receives funding from charitable giving like the FLOs’ donations as well as the Montgomery County Human Services Levy.
