Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs (SAF/IA) is organized into an executive office and three functional directorates to achieve its mission.

The executive office, comprised of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs, Air National Guard Advisor, Air Force Reserve Advisor, Director of Staff, and support personnel, coordinates across the organization to prepare DAF, USAF, and USSF senior leaders for successful engagements with allies and partners; work with the interagency, foreign governments, nongovernment officials, and industry leaders to advance mission priorities; and set functional and administrative standards for the organization.

The three directorates, Engagements (SAF/IAN), Policy and Programs (SAF/IAP), and Regional Affairs (SAF/IAR), provide expertise in the tools of security cooperation and conduct staff actions to execute programs.

The Engagements directorate facilitates international counterpart engagement coordination and preparation for DAF, USAF, and USSF senior leaders; and manages all foreign service attaché affairs and interactions with the DAF.

Policy and Programs enables the DAF security cooperation enterprise to align, integrate, and synchronize planning of programs and activities; conducts technical and operational weapon system analysis to support export of combat-credible capabilities; manages International Airmen and Guardians programs such as personnel exchanges and Foreign Area Officers; supports international training and education opportunities; and develops and negotiates international armaments cooperation agreements. It is comprised of seven divisions: International Airmen (IAPA); International Armaments Cooperation (IAPC); Foreign Disclosure and Technology Transfer (IAPD); Programming and Resources (IAPR); Strategy and Plans (IAPS); Weapons (IAPW); and Security Assistance Policy and International Training and Education (IAPX).

Regional Affairs provides country-level political-military expertise in support of strategic and operational decision-making and oversees acquisition, sustainment, and training for partner nation capability and capacity development. It is comprised of five divisions: Americas/Africa (IARA), Gulf/Mideast (IARC), Europe/NATO (IARE), Indo-Pacific (IARP), and Space (IARS).
